We keep looking for that perfect North American town, you know, the ones you see in the movies. They have friendly people, history, scenery, great downtown areas with neat little boutiques, comfortable residential areas and lot’s of industry. I guess we are looking for that “All American” or “All Canadian” town. One with lot’s of history for us “seniors” but lots of future for the generations behind us.
From the first glance from the outside, when we were making our way to Lake Chicot State Park this looked like it could be one. The remembrance to the local Confederate soldiers on Lakeshore Boulevard you see above is a great start. The people certainly are friendly and the outer residential areas are pristine.
Let’s go check out downtown. Maybe we can find a funky little restaurant and have a sandwich and some sweet tea, could be fun.
I’m not picking on Lake Village or Arkansas or even the USA. We live in Hamilton Ontario, we know all about cities and towns with rotted out centers.
We just keep hoping, that’s all.
We’re on the road this morning, moving north, closer to the Canadian border. Maybe today we’ll find that magical place we keep searching for. Maybe it’s all make-believe and Walt Disney was on to something. Maybe next year we’ll just go spend the winter at Disney World.
