Our plan “A” had us moving down to Jersey City yesterday to spend a few days checking out New York City but as Sandy advances we all agree that “discretion was the better part of valour” and we will sit here outside Boston and let the storm roll through. Based on today’s forecast it looks like so far, we are calling it right. While yesterday’s map had us just on the edge of all the action, today’s has it missing us all together. Let’s hope it stays that way.
Actually the locals in the know don’t seem to be too worried about the rain or the wind, what they are concerned about is the storm surge from the Atlantic that could bring in ocean waves of up to four feet that will cause major flooding. We should be OK there too.
In the interim, as an additional bonus, we are seeing a lot more of this area, and what a neat area it is.
The local weather forecast says we will have another good exploring day today before we get into a couple of days of heavy rain.
We are ready for a couple of good rain days, our e readers are loaded, we have lots to eat and drink and lots of fuel for the generator.
Wish us well.
Good choice, we have been waiting in North Carolina for Sandy to drive by. We are in the clear now, no wind or rain, head south in the morning.
Good decision!!! Pull in the slides and enjoy your books.
Congratulate Buster on his great post yesterday.
best of luck

Glad to know you are snuggled in somewhere safe. Enjoy your exploration and keep us posted. We may have to change our travel plans too, like you we are keeping an eye on the weather.
I think you made the right decision. Actually a good idea from Bob & Marjorie about bringing the slides during the winds. Be sure to allow a few days for NYC, my favorite place in the world.
Watching the storm and thinking of you guys. Sending good thoughts your way, hey, we know you will be fine, we have faith. Well, I do anyway! lol
We are going to wait out Sandy here in NB hopefully be on the road by Wednesday.
We were thinking about you, Marilyn and the pups as Sandy made its toward shore and wondered if you’d be moving further inland to avoid the storm. Just finished the air brake course today and planning on adding the “D” endorsement before heading south by mid-November. Maybe the storms will be gone by then…
