This was our second trip to Ottawa and we have to say that we are impressed. The city is very green, with lots of busy parks, thousands of buses and even in the dead of winter, a very active cycling community. People really embrace winter herte; there’s lots of cross-country skiers, snow-shoers and the trails are busy with folks out for a hike, and of course hundreds of people, all through the city, skating on the famous Rideau Canal. The streets have lots of bus lanes and bike lanes, and because Ottawa is our nation’s capital, it has many really classy buildings, museums and galleries. And, we enjoyed Winterlude with its ice and snow sculptures. We stayed right down downtown in a very classy “Corporate Stays” apartment and it was just minutes from the action.
Here’s a few more memories of our trip:
And here’s a few shots of the ice sculptures:
When we decided we were going to stay home this winter we were hoping for a “real winter.” And mother nature is delivering exactly what we asked for. We haven’t spent a whole winter in Ontario since 2007, so for us it’s an all new experience.
What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness!”
Thanks for the read.
